Schrage Added to Ray Guy Award List

Cow punter Nick Schrage inked a spot on the final candidate list for the Ray Guy Award, which is given annually to the top collegiate punter in the nation. Schrage has punted 20 times in eight games for the Black Knights for a total of 903 yards. He is averaging over 45 yards per punt and has six that have sailed over 50 yards this season. Schrage's 45 yards per punt average is over 10 yards better than his 2016 mark to show the amount of improvement this season for the Manassas, Va., native. Against Ohio State on Sept. 16, he boomed a career-long 67-yard punt to switch field position on the Buckeyes and he also had a punt of 65 yards opposite Temple, as well as a 63 yarder against Tulane. He also sealed a win for the Black Knights against Buffalo with a career best 15-yard rush on a fake punt late in the game that helped Army win its second game of the year by a 21-17 margin. The semifinalists for the award will be released on Nov. 16, followed by the finalists on Nov. 21. The award will be given out on Dec. 7. The Black Knights are back in action this weekend against Air Force on the road for a 1:30 p.m. MT kickoff on CBS Sports Network.
