Third Annual Vassar Exchange Initiative

LTC Doss and Professor Rogers of the History Department participated in the USMA-Vassar Exchange Initiative. Thirteen Vassar students were paired with cadet escorts to gain exposure to cadet life they observed the indoor obstacle course test and engagement skills trainer, spending the night in the cadet barracks. After viewing the parade Saturday morning, the Vassar exchange students watched Army defeat Temple University before attending a mixer at Cullum Hall with cadets and faculty. Feedback from one participant was, despite the differences in structure from West Point, the Vassar students will take away values from West Point and implement it into their own lives at Vassar. The initiative is an outreach program sponsored by the Mellon Foundation which aims to bridge the military-civilian divide through meaningful academic and social exchange. This is the third year of the program.
