Russian Language Cadets Visit Brighton Beach

Cadets enrolled in upper-level Russian language courses had the opportunity to visit the Russian-speaking community of Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, NY. The Cadets began their visit at the Shorefront Young Men and Woman’s Hebrew Association, which provides numerous services to the Brooklyn immigrant community from countries of the former Soviet Union. The center was honored to have several New York elected officials in attendance on this occasion: NYS Assemblywoman Helene E. Weinstein 41st Assembly District; NYS Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz 45th Assembly District; NYS Senator Diane Savino 23rd Senate District; US Congressman Hakeem Jeffries Eight District of NY. After spending time making friends and even singing songs with community members, the cadets had a few hours to try out Russian cuisine for lunch at one of the many cafes or restaurants on Brighton beach Avenue or the boardwalk.
