Companies providing surveying equipment to the Geospatial Information Science Program came to West Point to support Survey Demonstration Day for the Surveying Course. Enrolled cadets participated in a trip section at Lusk Reservoir with leaders from Keystone Precision Instruments and Trimble, Inc. to learn advances in surveying technology. Cadets collected real-world data with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies for upcoming classes. They explored technologies to include the Hydrone Sonar System, an integrated robotic GPS/total station, Trimble GeoX7 mapping grade GPS receivers, and the Trimble SX10 terrestrial scanner. After collecting the field data, the demonstration concluded in the West Point GeoScience Lab where advanced software suites for visualization and map product production were used to create high resolution advanced 3D geospatial products.
