COL Gagnon visits with Cadets Studying in Hamburg

COL Mark Gagnon conducted a Semester Exchange site visit at the University of the Armed Forces, Hamburg, Germany, also known as the Helmut Schmidt University. Cadets Parker, Riford, and Poston are studying in Hamburg as part of the Semester Exchange program. COL Gagnon met with the Cadets, the Director of the International Office, Dr. Nassua, the Senior Military program director, COL Dobschall (German Army), and a tactical officer, Captain-lieutenant Longen. Dr. Nassua pointed out the recent upsurge in interest at Helmut Schmidt for the exchange program and gave high accolades to the current cohort of Cadets in Germany. After lunch in the university's mess hall, COL Gagnon visited the Cadets' living spaces and met some of their classmates. Since 2007, the Semester Exchange program with Germany has provided opportunities for USMA Cadets of all academic backgrounds to study for a semester at the University of the Armed Forces in in Hamburg and Munich and offered German Cadets the chance to study at USMA.
