The West Point Investment Club travelled to Virtu Financial in NYC. Virtu, founded by Vincent Viola, is a market maker for securities traded on stock exchanges all around the world. They use a combination of proprietary algorithms and software to complete trades at a very high frequency in order to minimize their exposure time and limit any trading risks. The club met with Tony Manganiello ’77 and Tim Strabbing, a former USNA Brigade Commander (first captain equivalent) as well as other members of the Virtu staff. Tony explained Virtu's place in the security trading industry, and the importance of technology and proper risk analysis to their business model.
