Handball Trains with the USA Women's Handball Team

West Point’s Women’s Team Handball traveled to Auburn, Alabama to train with the USA Women’s Handball Team. After a full day of traveling on Friday, the weekend began with an 80-minute scrimmage with West Point’s Black and Gold teams against Team USA. The next day, Team USA hosted a tailgate and the West Point Teams attended an Auburn football game on military appreciation day. The teams had fun cheering the War Eagles to victory against Vanderbilt and enjoyed a special half time show dedicated to the armed services. West Point’s Black and Gold Team also attended a psychophysiology class on how to reach optimal performance levels in games. It was a much needed class for the stressed out cadets. They practiced various breathing and visualization techniques and learned the importance of hydration. On the final day of the trip, Team USA’s coach led the West Point teams through a series of drills to improve shooting, footwork, passing, and ball placement. The weekend ended with West Point’s Black and Gold teams playing two close games against Team USA. It was a successful weekend and the three teams bonded over good sportsmanship.
