CIA Students Meet the Cadet in the Red Sash

10 chefs and three faculty members from the Culinary Institute of America visited West Point as part of the USMA-Culinary Institute of America (CIA) exchange program. As soon as the chefs stepped off their bus, they were greeted by the Cadet in the Red Sash, who proceeded to lead a Mini-R-Day to introduce the chefs to an important part of the cadet experience. For the rest of the day, they had an introduction to weapons, ate lunch in the Mess Hall, took a tour of the kitchen, observed the IOCT, and did some light PT. They also participated in a roundtable with cadets discussing the differences and similarities in their liberal arts education and training for a profession. The exchange is in its fourth year and is an integral part of West Point outreach to the local community and as a civil-military opportunity. Cadets also visited the CIA and became chefs for a day!
